It is no secret that our MD Steve Morrisey is a petrol head with a love of motorsport! Steve had arranged weekend hospitality tickets for himself and key customers and as part of that he treated some lucky members of the som3 team to tickets for the qualifiers.

Five members of the team and their partners enjoyed an all expenses paid day in the ICON Club at Silverstone, which included breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and free flowing bubbly – along with trackside seats to watch the qualifying laps. The rain added to the drama, with even Lewis Hamilton going for a “spin”.

If that wasn’t enough excitement – there were also racing simulators and an F1 car where you and a partner could have a go at changing a wheel in the fastest time possible. Ops Director Neil Bryers and his son Lucas managed a very respectable 10 seconds. A couple people had a go on the racing simulator but unfortunately couldn’t get anywhere close to the F1 guys times, but then they probably hadn’t had a whole bottle of champagne before heading out on to the track.

It was a great day out and a chance to get the north and south teams together to reward all the hard work put in over the last few months.
